Puppy is definitely at home, and loves our training time - gets groomed tomorrow.

Baseball season at least training.

August 4-10 Episode 26 - 80000 steps

O.k. so I am not used to making several entries in one week yet. However, this week was a slow one. Lots of knitting, lots of pilate's ball bouncing and the Olympics. 

I know that I talk about my grandchildren a lot, well here is a picture of my granddaughter in the latest top that I knit for her. It makes me feel so good when they want to wear clothes that I made for them. She doesn't look very happy here but it looks like she was working hard on her latest creation.

Naturally, Kim's Knitting - Week of July 18, 2016

I have been following my daughter's blog, Beyond the Schoolyard. She makes a small entry each day and then saves it to post on the weekend. I have decided to do something similar to this but I will publish when my podcast goes live.

Anyway, I have been working on another child's chemo cap. Before I left for California, I had mailed out about 20 caps. So I am going to continue until the beginning of December and then send another batch. I love making them. I wanted to try a little bit bigger this time, but I am not thrilled with the way it fans out, so I will need to continue working on it.

I am also working on my There and Back again socks and a tee top for my grandson. I will be posting pics on those as I get further along.

I have been using my fitbit, which my dear son-in-law gave me, to keep track of my movement. Instead, I have discovered it is a motivator, also. I have been able to reach over 7000 steps each day and over 10,000 on the past three days. Wow. What a feeling.

I am not able to walk in the area that I live but I do use a pilates ball to bounce while working my arms, abs, legs and anything else I can think of.

Today I am going to be starting a super secret item for CC or JavaPurl Designs. I cannot wait. Her designs are always so cool.  In addition, I have begun a new chemo cap and have been working on my grandson's sweater.

I may be able to make one more entry before tomorrow, but not sure.

Lots on the Needles

So here we are, one week before Thanksgiving. In my mind this means only one month to get all of my Christmas gifts done! Yike!

Anyway, this week I have begun pattern testing for three ladies so my other projects have only seen minimum time this week.

I can't go into a lot of detail on the test patterns. But I am working on socks, and I chose to do an XL pair. This is funny because it could almost count as a Christmas stocking, it is that large. 

I am also working on a sweater. I qualify this by saying that I did have a sweater come out of storage with a big hole in it, so I need to replace it. 

My third object is a cowl which really should work up fast as it is made with large needles and super chunky yarn.

So those are my tests. Now for my other objects.

I am working on my son's replacement socks out of  a discontinued yarn color from Knit Picks. Pictures, hopefully in a week or so.

Then I have started a poncho for my California granddaughter. It is the Poncho Oli. This is on Les Tricots de Cecile. I am using odds and ends and each cable repeat is knit in a different color. It is turning out beautiful. This is working up quickly, but with the other projects it will probably get done right before Christmas.

Anyway, That is about all this week. Hopefully I will have pictures next week. I will also begin to post items on Ravelry this week under ksnapier.

I hope everyone enjoy their Thanksgiving dinners and keep those needles working. 

Knitting, knitting, cross-stitch????

So, I don't have anything new to show this week. I was soaring away on my milkweed coat, when I discovered I had misread a section of the pattern. Since there is lace knitting involved, I had to rip it all the way back to the seed stitch border. So a week's worth of work is now in the process of being work up again.

I am also ready to create the heel on my son's Christmas present, the same one I started last week. So nothing new on that front.

Now, I know you may have seen cross-stitch in my title and wondered what that is all about. This is another love of mine. A few years ago my daughter created a chart for St. Patrick's Breastplate and after a couple of years I began it. Now I am at the tail end of the beautiful picture. when I finish I will post a picture for all to enjoy.

So sorry, there are no pictures today but hopefully next week I will at least have a pair of socks done and then I will post and then on to another project.

My works in progress

I love it when I am working on something and someone takes notice and comments on it, in a positive manner. This happened about 10 days ago. I was volunteering in our church office and during the down time, I work on socks for the local soup kitchen. I am making Southwestern Socks by Wendy D. Johnson out of SWTC Tofutsies. I love this yarn because it has chitin in it which has natural healing properties. I know when I wear them my arthritis in my feet does not hurt as much.
I have made some modifications to the pattern as the yarn works to a smaller gauge and I like using 2 pair of circular needles instead of double-pointed.
Anyway, back to my story. While working on the socks, 2 friends came in and commented on the yarn and when I told them about it, they both stated that this is great and they wished they had a pair. That is all that I needed to hear.
I am almost finished with a pair for one of the gals, then I will start on the other. I will post pictures when I can persuade my hubby to take some with his phone.
I am also working on a sweater for my sweet grand daughter. I have only finished one sleeve so far. It included using waste yarn for a crochet chain start. Then you folded the edge under to create a hem. I had never done either of these techniques before so I was excited and worried that I would goof it up. Instead the first sleeve looks great and this makes me want to try this on any sweaters that I make in the future. Once again, when I can persuade hubby to take pictures I will gladly post.
